Prepare for AWS Certified AI Practitioner Certification (AIF-C01) for FREE
Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Generative AI (GenAI) are buzzwords dominating the tech industry today. While these technologies promise groundbreaking advancements, the key to truly leveraging their potential lies in understanding the foundational concepts of AI.
A bit about my background: In 2015, I completed my Master’s in Technology in IT, focusing my dissertation on the application of neural networks for predicting displacement. During this time, I published several research papers in peer-reviewed international journals and IEEE, delving deep into the world of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and predictive modeling.
But why share this story here? After all, this blog is about clearing the AWS Certified AI Practitioner (AIF-C01) exam, right? The certification journey varies for everyone. Thanks to my prior knowledge of ANN and ML, I was able to prepare and pass the exam in just 10 days. However, if you're new to the AI domain, your preparation might take more time and effort—but that’s perfectly okay. Building a strong foundation is key, regardless of the timeline.
Exam details
Exam basically focuses on knowledge in AI, machine learning (ML) and generative AI concepts and use-cases. Complete exam guide here: AWS-Certified-AI-Practitioner_Exam-Guide
Total questions: 65
Exam duration: 90 minutes
Questions format: MCQ, multiple response, fill in the blanks using given options, ordering/sequence based, match the following.
Recommended AWS knowledge: Candidate should have familarity or hands-on with the various AWS services such as VNET, private links, Lambda, EC2, ECS, etc. I had a question on how to connect two AWS services without exposing them to internet. There were questions related to IAM as well.
Fundamentals of AI and ML: Exam had some questions related to AI/ML algorithms - decision trees, kNN, Supervised, Unsupervised learning and reinforcement learning. The questions were direct and not lengthy. Study about inferencing as well, I had two questions based on inferencing (batch and real-time). There was one questions based on performance metrics, better study about accuracy, precison and recall.
There was question on model fit (overfitting and underfitting). You may go through my article here.
Generative AI: As I can recall there were more questions on AWS services related to GenAI and 1 or 2 based on fundamentals of GenAI such as - tokens, embeddings, vectors, multi-modal models, pre-training and fine tuning.
GenAI AWS services which you should read about - Amazon SageMaker, Bedrock, PartyRock, Amazon Q, Comprehend Medical, Amazon Lex, Amazon Polly, Amazon Textract, Amazon Rekognition.
It might be overwhelming and anyone can easliy get confused when multiple similar options are given. Read about these services throughly.
Application of Foundation Models: I got 2 questions related to fine-tuning the model, hyperparameters, inference parameters - temprature, input/output lenght were there. Read about prompt engineering (zero-shot, single-shot, etc), pre-training, in-context learning and RAG.
Fine tuning of foundation model (FM) - instruction training, fine-tuning, continuous pre-training, guardrails. You may expect couple of questions from this domain.
Responsible AI: There was 1 question from Guardrail. Better you go through the links I mentioned at the bottom of article. Read about AWs services - SageMaker Clarify, Guardrails for Bedrock, Model Cards, principle such as explainable AI.
Security and Governance: You may find questions on Amazon Macie, PrivateLink, IAM, shared responsibility model. Cover services like - AWS Artifacts, CloudTrail, Trusted Advisor, Amazon Inspector, AWS Config.
Personally I have not gone through any paid courses or paid mock exams but you may checkout courses available on Udemy.
